Gum Treatment
Personalised periodontal care to restore gum health and protect your teeth for life.

What is Gum Treatment?
Gum (periodontal) treatment manages gingivitis and periodontitis — infections of the tissues that support your teeth. From a deep cleaning to advanced therapies, our goal is to halt the disease, reverse what we can, and keep your natural teeth for life.

A personalised maintenance plan
The procedure
- 1
Periodontal exam
We measure gum pockets, check bone levels on X-rays and grade the disease stage.
- 2
Scaling & root planing
Deep cleaning removes tartar from above and below the gumline; root surfaces are smoothed to discourage bacteria.
- 3
Local antimicrobial therapy
If needed, targeted antibacterial agents are placed in deeper pockets.
- 4
Re-evaluation
We re-measure pockets in 4–6 weeks to confirm healing.
- 5
Maintenance programme
A personalised cleaning schedule (often every 3–4 months) keeps gums healthy long-term.
What to expect afterwards
- Mild gum tenderness and sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal
- Brush gently with a soft brush — avoid vigorous scrubbing
- Salt-water rinses help soothe gums in the first week
- Use any prescribed mouthwash as directed
- Strict daily flossing is essential for long-term success
Gum Treatment FAQs
Can gum disease be cured?
Early gum disease (gingivitis) can usually be reversed. Advanced periodontitis can be controlled and stabilised but not cured — ongoing maintenance is essential.
Is deep cleaning painful?
We use local anaesthesia when needed, so the procedure is comfortable. Mild tenderness afterwards is normal.
How often will I need treatment?
Most periodontal patients benefit from cleanings every 3–4 months instead of every 6, to keep the disease under control.
Will my gums grow back?
Receded gums don't regrow on their own. We can stabilise the recession and, in some cases, recommend gum grafting.
